The Cypress trail is well marked multi-use trail and features tall ponderosa pines which provide plenty of shade. There are many granite boulders as well as creek crossings of Stewart Creek along the trail. The Cypress Trail has both shade trees and tremendous views, the views are particularly good if you follow the Boulders loop. The trail is well established but does get sandy in places.

Woods Canyon Lake is a small lake located in northern Arizona, United States, about 30 mi east of the city of Payson. It is one in a series of small, canyon-bound lakes located on the Mogollon Rim, collectively referred to as the Rim Lakes. It is among the more developed and accessible of the Rim Lakes.
On what might be one of the greatest drives in Arizona, spend 40 miles on this forest road on the edge of the Mogollon Rim. With countless lookouts, camping, and hiking trails, the only thing you’ll run out of is time. This trail can be done in either direction, but we will be talking about doing it from west to east (Highway 87 to Highway 260). From Payson, head north on Highway 87 as it climbs onto the Rim through Pine and Strawberry. After about 26 miles, turn right onto Rim Road/F.R. 300. If you start on the east end, you’ll take Highway 260 about 29 miles east then turn left onto Rim Road.
There are many trails all over, enjoy nature driving around in your Jeep or Side-by-Side all around Payson. Checkout beautiful Whispering Pines. If you enjoy camping and outdoors with plenty of fresh air. Northern Arizona has it all. This was taken in Whispering pines, Located in Payson, AZ. Control RD to be exact. This stream flows year round over a portion of the creek crossing.
Water Wheel Falls is a 1.6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Payson, Arizona that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. This trail is in a major flash flood area. Please check the weather forecast before planning your trip and be mindful of changing weather patterns.
Short hike with wonderful views and the option to continue up to the Ellison Creek Cascades. If you're in the area it's worth the trip. There is no official trail. It's more a trail of use that skirts away from Water Wheel campgrounds.
